5 Bollywood Diwali releases that turned out to be biggest box office flops

Diwali is one of the most awaited time for the Hindi film industry as major films release in the special weekend. Some of them become blockbusters, while some fail miserably at the box office.

Here is a list of five such films which released on Diwali and turned out to be biggest Bollywood flops.

In 2005, Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor's Kyon Ki released during Diwali and collected only Rs 12 crore in India, resulting in one of the biggest flops in Salman's career.

Salman Khan, Preity Zinta, and Akshay Kumar's love triangle Jaan-E-Mann was the Diwali box office flop in 2006. The film ended up earning only Rs 25 crore net in India.

Marking the debuts of Ranbir Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor, Saawariya released during Diwali in 2007. The film was a massive failure earning only Rs 22 crore net in India.

Akshay Kumar's action adventure film Blue was released during Diwali in 2009. Made on an estimated cost of Rs 75 crore, the film failed to recover its budget and collected only Rs 68 crore.

In 2009, Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor's Main Aur Mrs. Khanna also released during Diwali. Earning just Rs 7 crore, the romantic drama turned out to be a disaster.

This year, Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, and Emraan Hashmi's Tiger 3 is a solo Diwali release and is expected to take a strong opening on the festival day.
