A merger of a space image from the ESA/NASA SOHO spacecraft and an image taken from Kastellorizo, Greece

This was taken from the Mir space station during a solar eclipse on Aug. 11, 1999. The shadow of the Moon was projected onto Earth.

The central, dark image shows the total eclipse on March 9, 2016 from Earth, with the central pupil created by the Sun covered by a dark Moon.

The image shows Baily's Beads effect taken Dec. 4, 2002.

On Nov. 13, 2012, a narrow corridor in the southern hemisphere experienced a total solar eclipse.
