NASA shares mind-blowing images of Mars

Mars is also known as the Red Planet, named for its reddish colour.

Robotic explorers like NASA's Perseverance rover are serving as pathfinders to eventually get humans to the surface of Mars.

Mars takes 687 Earth days to orbit the Sun, which is almost twice as long as Earth's year.

Mars spins on its axis once every 24 hours and 37 minutes, which is only a little longer than an Earth day

MarCO-B, one of the experimental Mars Cube One (MarCO) CubeSats, took these images as it approached Mars from about 357,300 miles to 11,200 miles away.

This is the composite image of the planet Mars taken by Hubble Space Telescope (HST) Wide Field and Planetary Camera (WFPC).

This global map of Mars, based on data from NASA Mars Odyssey, shows estimates for amounts of high-energy-particle cosmic radiation reaching the surface.
