IPL 2024: Teams that will have new captains this season

The wait is almost over for cricket fans to see the highly anticipated tournament, IPL 2024 starting from today (March 22).
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will take on Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the opening match of IPL 2024 today at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
Just hours before the tournament gets started, let’s have a look at the list of teams that will have new captains in the 17th edition of IPL.
Ruturaj Gaikwad replaced MS Dhoni as CSK captain a day before the IPL 2024 campaign. MS Dhoni has led CSK since its inaugural season in 2008. Under his captaincy, CSK won five IPL titles (2010, 2011, 2018, 2021 and 2023).

Hardik Pandya is set to make a comeback in Mumbai Indians this season. Besides this, he has also replaced Rohit Sharma, who led MI to win five IPL titles (2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, 2020), as MI captain.
Mumbai Indians (MI)
After bagging Pat Cummins at a whopping price of Rs 20.5 crore, SRH also decided to hand over the captaincy to the star players ahead of IPL 2024. Cummins is known for his great captaincy skills on the field. Last year, he also led Australia to win two World Cup titles.
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH)
After missing the 2023 season due to an injury, Shreyas Iyer is all set to make a comeback this season as KKR skipper.
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)
Fans are also excited about Rishabh Pant’s comeback in IPL 2024 following a life-threatening car accident that put him on rest for over a year. He will be replacing David Warner as Delhi Capitals skipper this season.
Delhi Capitals (DC)
After the departure of Hardik Pandya from Gujarat Titans, the captaincy role has been handed over to Shubman Gill. Panyda led GT to record their first IPL win in 2022.
