Anil Kumble is a unique Indian cricketer who played his final Test match while captaining the country in 2008 against Australia.

India's highest wicket-taker in Test cricket history, Anil Kumble, retired on the final day of the third Test in Delhi due to an injury that ruled him out of the fourth Test.

Sourav Ganguly retired from all forms of international cricket after the 2008 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, with the fourth Test in Nagpur marking his final appearance. 

Ganguly is India's third most successful captain in Test cricket history. He played a total of 113 Tests and scored 7212 runs, including 16 centuries. 

Rahul Dravid made the decision to retire from Test cricket following India's 4-0 loss to Australia in the 2011-12 Border Gavaskar Trophy.

Dravid is the fourth-highest run-scorer in Test cricket history, having scored 13,288 runs in 164 Tests with 36 centuries.

The 2011-12 BGT turned out to be VVS Laxman's final series for India, as he announced his retirement before India's upcoming home series against New Zealand.

Virender Sehwag was dropped from the Indian Test team during the home BGT series in 2013 and never made a comeback before retiring in 2015.

MS Dhoni surprised everyone when he announced his retirement from Test cricket immediately after the third Test of the 2014-15 Border-Gavaskar Trophy at the MCG.
