The most common sign is a lump or mass in the breast or underarm. These lumps are often painless but can be tender in some cases.
Any noticeable change in the size or shape of the breast can be a warning sign.
This includes dimpling, puckering, or redness of the skin on the breast. The skin might also look like an orange peel (peau d’orange).
Look for changes such as inversion (nipple turning inward), discharge (especially if it’s bloody), or pain in the nipple area.
Persistent breast pain that is not related to the menstrual cycle can be a symptom.
Swelling of all or part of the breast, even if no distinct lump is felt.
Changes in the skin texture can be a sign, particularly around the nipple.
Swelling or lumps in the lymph nodes under the arm or around the collarbone can indicate the presence of breast cancer, as cancer cells can spread to these lymph nodes.
