Even though India's monarchy was abolished in 1971, several royal families in the nation continue to lead opulent lives.

A few royal families have gracefully weathered the passage of time and kept their opulence even in modern times. 

Maharana Pratap's descendants live in Udaipur and the head of this family is His Royal Highness Arvind Singh Mewar. He is a successful businessman and heads the HRH Group of Hotels. 

The Mewar Dynasty

The Yaduvanshi lineage of Lord Krishna is where the Wadiyar Dynasty's history begins. The leader, Yaduveer Krishnadutta Chamaraj Wadiyar, is not the immediate heir.  His uncle didn't have any children when he passed away, so he adopted Yaduveer and made him the king.

Highness Bhawani Singh adopted his daughter Diya Kumari’s son Padmanabh Singh since he had no sons. He became the Maharaja of Jaipur in 2016. Currently, the Taj Hotels is running the Rambagh Palace.

The descendants of the Rathore dynasty, who controlled Jodhpur, still reside there. Maharaja Gaj Singh resides in the Umaid Bhawan Palace with his family. He previously spent a term in the Rajya Sabha. Actress Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas married there.

The head of the Baroda royal family, Samarjitsinh Gaekwad, inherited assets worth more than Rs 20,000 crores. Laxmi Vilas Palace, the biggest private residence in the world, is his property.

The Nawabs were able to administer the kingdom of Pataudi, with Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi serving as the final nominal ruler. Additionally, His Royal Highness served as the Indian Cricket Team's former captain. The Palace was converted into the Pataudi Palace Hotel.
