The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) announced the issuance of new Rs100 and Rs200 banknotes.

These notes bear the signature of Shri Sanjay Malhotra, the newly appointed RBI Governor.

RBI's new ₹100 and ₹200 notes mark a significant step towards a safer, more secure financial system.

Both new notes incorporate advanced security elements to deter counterfeiting.

The new ₹100 note features a lavender base colour with an image of 'Rani ki Vav,' an ancient step-well located in Patan, Gujarat, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site.

The ₹200 note comes in bright yellow and depicts the 'Sanchi Stupa,' an ancient Buddhist monument in Madhya Pradesh, highlighting India's rich cultural heritage.

New notes enhance transaction safety, efficiency, and security as part of RBI's routine currency update initiative.

RBI stated that there is no requirement for the public to exchange old notes for new ones; both will circulate simultaneously.
