Entry to ‘Paatal Lok'? Mystical valley hidden deep in MP, know its legend, how to visit

Patalkot means ‘very deep’ in Sanskrit. The hidden valley lies in the Chhindwara district of MP. 

The ancient valley 3,000 mts below MSL is mentioned in India’s oldest legends. The valley has abundant herbal medicines.

Rocks here are 250 crore years old. The valley houses 12 villages of Bhuria tribe hidden from outside.

As per one legend, Lord Rama's wife Goddess Sita ventured inside Earth from here. 

Another legend: Ravana’s son Meghnad entered ‘Patal lok’ (underworld) from here after worshipping Lord Shiva.

In a third legend, Lord Hanuman saved Lord Rama and Laxman when demon Ahiravan carried them to 'Paatal Lok'.

Government has been promoting ecotourism in Patalkot in recent years. Best time to visit is Monsoon season. 

How to reach: Nearest airport is Nagpur, 208 kms away. Nearest railway station is in Chhindwara.
