From April 1, visiting Nainital will become more expensive as the administration has raised the 'chungi' tax.
The proposal to increase the lake bridge tax from the next financial year has been passed.
The tax is exacted between 9 am and 3 pm. Earlier, they used to take Rs 60 to gain entry. In the evening, the old tax was Rs 110 between 3 pm and 9 pm. And from 9 pm to 9 am, the tax was again Rs 60.
This tax is given to those who enter Nainital from Bhawali. Now everyone will pay Rs 110 tax the entire day.
