Prashant Tamta

North India is currently grappling with cold and witnessing foggy weather. It has led to disruptions in flights and trains.

Amid foggy conditions, several collisions were reported on roads. Here are some tips while driving in fog:

Don’t use high-beam lights: They cause glare making it more difficult for you to see what’s ahead on the road.

Stay in Lane: It is better to drive closer to the kerb and follow the magnetic blinkers on the side of the road. Try to drive on the left side while driving on a single-lane road.

Maintain Distance: Try to maintain an optimum amount of space from the car in front. You will get a longer time to react if requires immediate braking.

Turn on your heater: The fog often leads to window condensation inside and poor visibility. Hence, it is important to turn on the heater.

Use Horn: Blow the horn, especially while changing lanes and at turns.

Use fog lights: It is advisable to use these if your car has one.

Reduce distractions: It is advisable to not use your cell phone, radio and music to avoid any distractions.
