In his directorial debut, Motwane helmed a coming-of-age drama that follows the life of a teenager who is forced to live with his authoritarian father after being expelled from school.

Motwane's period romantic drama, based on O Henry's The Last Leaf, is a beautiful story of two lovers showcasing love, betrayal and redemption.

Motwane’s AK vs AK is an extremely well-made dark comedy that follows a real-time public spat between a movie star and a disgraced director after the latter kidnaps his daughter.  It is a genre bending Netflix film that blurs lines between real and reel life.
