Like hair and skin, eye colour also depends on a protein called melanin. Our body produces special cells called meloncytes whose job is to secret melanin. 

The colour of the eyes also starts changing due to less or more production melanin. 

If more melanin produced than there are chanes that the baby's eye colour maybe turn blue-green or in some cases brown. 

When the melanocyctes start appearing in large number than the eye colour turn out brown.  

The melanocyctes take up to one year to complete their work. Sometimes after 6 months the baby's eye colour starts to change gradually.
