South directors whose Bollywood films turned out to be major flops

Jawan and Animal, two of the biggest Bollywood blockusters in 2023 have been directed by South directors

Directed by Atlee, Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan is the highest-grossing Indian film this year with worldwide earnings of over Rs 1100 crore

Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, Ranbir Kapoor's Animal has grossed over Rs 800 crore globally and is still running in the theatres

But here are some Bollywood films, directed by famous South directors, that turned out to be major flops

Directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, Shahid Kapoor-starrer Jersey was a major flop earning Rs 26 crore worldwide against its budget of Rs 60 crore

Vijay Deverakonda's Bollywood debut Liger, directed by Puri Jagannadh, made Rs 56 crore globally and its budget was over Rs 100 crore

With its budget of Rs 90 crore, Ajay Devgn's Action Jackson could only make Rs 85 crore worldwide. The film was directed by Prabhu Deva

After opening the 100 crore club with Ghajini, AR Murugadoss' Akira was a box ofice disaster. Sonakshi Sinha-starrer made only Rs 43 crore globally

Gautham Vasudev Menon's Ekk Deewana Tha, featuring Prateik Babbar and Amy Jackson, was a massie flop as it earned less than Rs 10 crore worldwide
