Shootout at Lokhandwala (2007) - Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, this film is based on the real-life 1991 Lokhandwala Complex shootout between Mumbai police and gangsters led by Maya Dolas.

Company (2002) - Directed by Ram Gopal Varma, this film is inspired by the rise of the D-Company, the criminal enterprise run by Dawood Ibrahim, and his fallout with his lieutenant, Chhota Rajan.

Gangs of Wasseypur (2012) - Directed by Anurag Kashyap, this crime film is based on the coal mafia of Dhanbad and the real-life gang war between the families of Faheem Khan and Shafiq Khan.

D-Day (2013) - Directed by Nikkhil Advani, this action thriller is loosely based on the real-life events involving the capture of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim by Indian intelligence agencies.

Once Upon a Time in Mumbai (2010)  film is inspired by the lives of Mumbai underworld figures Haji Mastan and Dawood Ibrahim.

Bombay Velvet: Based on historian Gyan Prakash's book Mumbai Fables, the film integrates numerous true events from that era. The character Rosie in the film is inspired by a real jazz singer from the 1950s and 1960s.
