IAS Saumya Sharma, who passed the UPSC Civil Services Exam on her first try and earned an All India Rank of 9, won the exam in 2018. Saumya, a Delhi native and trained lawyer, took the most difficult exam after only four months of study.

In her third attempt at the civil services test, Sarjana Yadav earned a ranking of 126 overall in India to become an IAS officer in 2019. IAS was self-prepared and succeeded in her endeavour. Self-study is far better, in Sarjana Yadav's opinion, provided you are diligent and sincere with your academic pursuits.

IAS Saloni Verma started studying for the UPSC test soon after graduating, and on her second attempt, she qualified. She was successful in passing the UPSC exam with only self-study, earning an AIR 70 for 2020.

While remaining in the village, Anshuman Raj took the choice to self-study for the UPSC. Self-preparation enabled him to achieve AIR 107 in 2019. He reportedly studied beneath a kerosene lamp until he was in class 10.

IAS Tejasvi Rana obtained an AIR 12 in 2016 after being successful on her second attempt. Tejasvi started by carefully examining the UPSC curriculum, then she studied NCERT texts from classes 6 through 12 to clear key topics
